Unexpected fun and a little sickness :(

On Sunday, we headed to the zoo to attend a members event!  All you can eat icecream, bounce houses, face painting, animal feedings...all sorts of fun!  WELL...we pulled up to the zoo and it was COMPLETELY insane!  The line just to get in to the zoo was wrapped around the entrance building and there was no parking spots :( .  In addition, this was the hottest day we have had in Tucson so far.  So all the those factors combined...we turned around  :(  Evan was so sad and we felt so bad!!!!  But with those crowds...we were worried that once we get in...it would just be lines and barely enough time to do ANYTHING! :(

So, we pulled out of the parking lot and I immediately got out my phone to find something else fun for us to do!  After a few ideas that wouldn't work out time wise...I tried the Children's museum and it was closed!  One thing I have learned about Tucson...everything closes VERY early here.  I know it was a Sunday but even on Saturday nights restuarants in OV will close at 8pm!  So then I remembered we had to miss playgroup on the day they went to the dinosaur exploration center.  I called and they were open!  And there was plenty of time to play!

So we headed there!

I think this giant play table with all the dinosaurs was Evan's favorite part!

Ainsley enjoyed it too!  Just noticed the kids outfits are totally matching!  haha

A little dinosaur surgery!

Making footprints!  It was very hands on :)

Digging for bones!  I was impressed...he knew almost all of them by just their skeleton :)

Safety first

Puttng a TREX back together

Other activities he liked were making dinosaur rubbings and practicing writing the names of them all as I spelled them.  There was also a fun life size dinosaur exhibit where they also had real turtles roaming around.  Also a dino you could ride on that moved.  Evan tried it!  Ainsley was too scared :(

The center was small but nice that they got to do everything in the time we had.

We then headed to my favorite Tucson place to eat...Beyond Bread :)  And had to make it their quick because it closes at 6!  Like I said...things close early here.  haha.

Monday morning, my friend Mckinleigh came to visit!!!!  The kids just love her!  She is so good with little ones!  We had a girls night planned for that evening BUT....as I was driving her around showing her Tucson...Evan threw up in the car :(  POOR GUY!!!!!  He was SOOOOOO sick Monday night.  I felt HORRIBLE for him!  We were up all night.

So sorry this happened on your visit Mckinleigh  :(  .  That being said...she was so wonderful to have here too!  Ainsley just loves her and when Christian and I both needed to be with Evan...it was nice to have an extra adult around here.  I just know it wasn't probably the girls trip she/we had planned :)  OH life with kids!  Thank you so much for visiting Mck and being so great with all the craziness around here!!!!!  We will have to reschedule our girls night out sometime soon! :)

Monday morning Evan got sick again but has been fever free since!  His face in this pic is so funny!  Yesterday afternoon he was better and really wanted to eat!  I took this picture for my friend Kendra because she brought him over some pedialyte ice pops :)  Thank you Kendra!  So sweet of you to think of him!  He loved getting to have a little treat :)

I hear this is just how things go when kids start school :/. Either now or when he starts Kinder!  At the same time...we were out and about this weekend so could have gotten it anywhere!  Hoping everyone elses kids have been healthy and not caught this...this bug was TERRIBLE!  I have never seen my baby so sick :(

So we have been home the last few days (I have been going crazy sanitizing and cleaning EVERYTHING) with the exception of my doctors appt today and I think he will be ready to head back to school tomorrow.  I am nervous about him being outside but I did see it will only be about 91 tomorrow so hopefully when they are out in the morning he will be fine :)

I won't always post pictures of work he comes home with...but wanted to share the idea I read on pinterest of what to do with it!  Take a picture of your kids work and projects throughout the year (or scan them) then make a photo book (shutterfly, etc) with it at the end of the year!  A great way to keep your child's work memories without literally saving every piece of paper :)  So I am starting this little tradition this year and here will be his first piece of work!
